As I’d vibed, the NBC is going to bloom when I’m out of town. Drats! The good news is it’s VERY tiny right now, 1/16th of an inch. I’ve never caught one this early. She always takes longer to blow than I anticipate, so it’s possible I can send pix upon my return.
This is the first year time in years there are 2 blooms. The 2nd one (not pictured) is even tinier. So I remain hopeful! If I gave you a plant, look for the above. Careful, they’re wicked fragile. If you’d like a plant, let me know!

I love this and always look forward to seeing it! I don’t know if it will grow in Arizona, even inside.

Ann – What a gift you have with these magnificent plants! You must have THE perfect conditions, and I envy you those. Good luck with this batch; I hope you make it back in time, but if not, there’s always next year. Have you had viewing parties yet? I’m proud I started you on your way. xoxo Jeannie

Never a viewing “party” yet, J, but I did carefully load the blooming plant last year into my car en route to Star Island to the delight of my overnight hosts in Hopkington. Somehow the bloom made it and blew minds. Well, one year in MA the neighbors came over, so…yes? I’ve given easily 5 cuttings to others, so your legacy ever rolls on! Not one has bloomed yet — can’t wait.

Glad you’re having fun with it all — and spreading the knowledge of the plant. GOOD for you!!! Love you.

So the flower comes out of the side of the leaf? Or is the entire stem/leaf a part of the flower? I’ve never seen one of these (I am not good at keeping plants alive).

Yes, ma’am. And this big vein grows from the leaf to feed the blossom, it’s madness! You could actually keep this alive IMHO.
